OzGirl

OzGirl is Australia’s first social web TV show. The 23-part, feature length (105 minutes) web series which garnered over 25, 000 fans was produced independently on a shoe-string budget of $7, 000 and released in 2009. The show was an experiment in cross-platform and interactive storytelling, with the audience able to interact with characters and affect plot lines, it tells the story of country girl Sadie Brown (Sophie Tilson) who moves to the city to stay with her cousin, former child-star Megan Brown (Shanrah Wakefield), and along the way she meets George (Richard Askin).

Following the success of the series, which has been described as “Australia’s next social media sensation”, I signed a distribution deal with KoldCast TV which saw the series syndicated across TiVo, iTunes, and Zune. The series is also distributed on all Virgin Australia flights.

OzGirl won ‘Best Web Series’ and ‘Best Acting’ at the 4th Independent Television Festival in Los Angeles and won ‘Best Foreign Series’ at the 2nd Streamy Awards in Los Angeles, the most prestigious award for web series content, as well as being nominated for ‘Best Drama’ and ‘Best Actor’. The show is an Official Honoree at the 14th Webby Awards in the Drama category and also made its New York debut at the New York Television Festival in September 2009.
